June 9th - Richard Chapman (Hitchcock scholar)
Senior Lecturer Richard Chapman is a veteran screenwriter and producer in film and television. He has created, produced and written over two hundred hours of network series, including such credits as "Simon & Simon" (CBS), "The New Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (NBC), "Disney's Absentminded Professor", and the Golden Globe and Emmy nominated HBO Original Movie, Live From Baghdad. His career in motion pictures features My Fellow Americans and an adaptation of Christopher Buckley’s novel Thank You For Smoking. Chapman has written over twenty motion picture screenplays for such stars as Mel Gibson, Meg Ryan, Alec Baldwin and Bette Midler. He has also produced a feature length documentary, Shooting the Messengers, the behind the scenes story of media coverage of the Vietnam War. It is a comprehensive and controversial study of how journalists from all media (print, electronic, photojournalism) reported the entire war and is culled from over fifty hours of interviews with such icons as Walter Cronkite and the late David Halberstam. |
June 16 - Christian Finnegan (Comedian, VH1's "Best Week Ever")
Finnegan is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor based in New York City. A long time panelist on VH1's hit series "Best Week Ever", he is a regular contributor to MSNBC’s "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". Other credits include his own half-hour special, "Comedy Central Presents: Christian Finnegan", "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and numerous appearances on "The Today Show".
You might also have caught him on Chappelle's Show playing Chad, the only white roommate in the infamous "Mad Real World" sketch.
He is currently traveling the US on the "Au Contraire!" tour, named for his recent stand up comedy DVD which premiered on Comedy Central. Au Contraire! distributed by Warner Bros. June 23 - Frank DeCaro (Comedian, "The Frank DeCaro Show")
Writer/performer Frank DeCaro hosts his own live national talk program "The Frank DeCaro Show" every weekday on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and plays the crime-fighting hairdresser-to-the-stars "Mr. Keith" on the animated web series "The Confirmed Bachelors". This summer, he'll make his big-screen debut in the comedy concert film Stand-Up 360: Inside Out in theatres across North America. DeCaro is best known for his six-and-a-half-year stint as the flamboyant film critic on the Emmy Award-winning "The Daily Show" and for his 40-episode turn on the Game Show Network's update of "I've Got a Secret". July 7 - Alan Zweibel
(Original Writer - "Saturday Night Live", Writer - Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, Author - Clothing Optional)
An original "Saturday Night Live" writer, Alan Zweibel has won multiple Emmy, Writers Guild of America, and TV Critics awards for his work in television which also includes "It’s Garry Shandling’s Show" (which he co-created and executive produced), "Monk", and "Curb Your Enthusiasm". In films, he co-wrote the screenplays for Dragnet, North, and The Story of Us.
Alan’s theatrical contributions include the play Bunny Bunny-Gilda Radner: A Sort of Love Story, which he adapted from his best-selling book. He also collaborated with Billy Crystal on the Tony Award-winning play 700 Sundays, as well as Martin Short’s Broadway smash hit Fame Becomes Me.
His humor has appeared in such diverse publications as Esquire, The Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Op-Ed page, The Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine, The Huffington Post and MAD Magazine. A frequent guest on talk shows such as "Late Night with David Letterman", Alan is currently finishing his next Broadway venture to be titled Sunday Nights at 8:00 and the screenplay version of 700 Sundays with Billy Crystal.
In addition, he wrote the popular children’s book, Our Tree Named Steve and the 2006 Thurber Prize winning novel, The Other Shulman. July 14 - Eugene Pack (creator, producer, performer and host of the Off-Broadway hit comedy sensation "Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words")
Eugene Pack is the creator, producer, performer and host of the Off-Broadway hit comedy sensation Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words which runs at the Triad Theatre. He just won the Drama Desk Award in the category of Unique Theatrical Experience. Some of the regular performers in the rotating cast include Matthew Broderick, Kristen Johnston, Sherri Shepherd, Rachel Dratch, Richard Kind, Cheyenne Jackson, Fred Willard, Kristen Wiig and Will Forte. Pack is an Emmy Award-nominated writer and producer. July 21 - Liz Tuccillo (co-writer “He’s Just Not That Into You”)
Liz Tuccillo began as a playwright, writing two plays, Fair Fight (a mean little dance) and Joe Fearless (a fan dance) that were produced by or at Naked Angels, Atlantic Theater Company, New York Stage and Film, and the Aspen Comedy Festival. She was a writer on the last two seasons of Sex and the City, and then co-authored the bestselling book “He’s Just Not That Into You.” She is currently working on a screenplay for Will Smith’s company Overbrook Entertainment. |
July 28 - Rachel Dratch (actress/ comedian “Saturday Night Live”)
Rachel Dratch is best known for her work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live for 7 years. Before that she performed in and co-wrote 4 revues on the Second City Mainstage in Chicago. Other live comedy includes Improvolympic in Chicago, Dratch and Fey at Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade theater and Aspen Comedy Festival, Assscat 3000 at UCB theater, and Celebrity Autobiography at the Triad in NY. Her tv credits also include Ugly Betty, King of Queens, Monk, Frasier, 30 Rock, Wizards of Waverly Place, and a dancey-dance on Yo Gabba Gabba. August 4 - Karith Foster
(Comedian)
Karith Foster is one of the hottest comics to come out of New York City according to both The Hollywood Reporter and Backstage Magazine who named her one of the “Top 10 Comics to Watch” in 2004. She is currently a regular cast member of Don Imus’ nationally syndicated program “Imus in the Morning” on WABC Radio and RFD-TV. Originally from Plano, Texas this self-described Huxtable moved to New York 12 years ago to pursue a career in television. With her B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Stephens College (Columbia, MO) and Oxford University’s St. Peter’s College, this former ABC affiliate reporter took a position on the production team for WABC-TV and Barbara Walter’s, “The View” where she was first introduced to the world of comedy. After her first stab at stand-up she was hooked. Not only did she become one of the New York Friars’ Club’s youngest members; but she has since performed in all of the major comedy clubs in New York City and across the country. August 25 - Chris Grabenstein (Former improv comedian, mystery book author, President of the NY chapter of Mystery Writers of America)
Chris Grabenstein did improvisational comedy in New York City with Bruce Willis before James Patterson hired him to write advertising copy. You've probably seen his spots for clients such as Seven Up, Miller Lite, KFC ("Everybody needs a little KFC"), Dr Pepper, and many others. He was, perhaps most famously, the copy writer who created Trojan Man, a radio campaign that still rides the airwaves today. Joel’s interest in Alfred Hitchcock began in middle school. But it was upon seeing Kim Novak’s haunting performance of ‘Madeleine’in Vertigo in high school that his interest metastasized into passion. From then on, he seized every opportunity to watch Hitchcock on the big screen, even taking notebooks into the theater to write down observations during the daylight scenes. And then he fell among film scholars. After that, it was a slippery slope.
In 2004, Joel launched the blog www.alfredhitchcockgeek.com, which has now attracted an international following of several thousand monthly visitors and subscribers. Joel lives in Portland, Oregon and is currently seeking a publisher for a book about Hitchcock’s innovative and artistic use of special effects.

Humorist Laura Slutsky has been making people laugh since she was a child. When her parents told her – “Sweetheart, your last name is SLUTSKY!” – she knew then and there that comedy was to be her life.
Laura has been entertaining audiences on cruise ships, comedy and cabaret clubs throughout the country with her unique wry witt and sass. She has been a guest on Larry King, Charlie Rose, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show and many others. As she says “I have an opinion about an opinion.” As one of the country’s top emcees, Laura has an incredible ability to improvise and work with the audience. Cory achieved a fan following on Season One of Last Comic Standing. Since then, she has made 3 appearances on the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, 7 Tough Crowd appearances (Comedy Central), 4 Politically Incorrect appearances (ABC), and she’s a regular on the Big Idea with Donny Deutch (MSNBC).
Currently Cory is a appearing on tour in off-Broadway’s critically acclaimed The J.A.P Show. The J.A.P. Show is a multi-media homage to the brilliant Jewish comediennes who paved the way for all women in stand up, presented by the top Jewish comediennes of today. Cory conceived and developed The Radio Rita’s a nationally syndicated talk radio show for Greenstone Media; a company created by Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda to provide radio programming for woman.

Valerie Smaldone, a 5 time Billboard Magazine Award winner, is perhaps best known for her unprecedented success holding the #1 position in the New York radio market as the midday host of New York’s 106.7 FM. In addition, she was the co-creator, writer, producer and host of 'Spotlight On,' a nationally syndicated program that featured in-depth interviews with top recording artists such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting and Celine Dion, to name a few.

October 13 - Stone & Stone
(Comedians)
The Stone twins, Adam and Todd, created their two man comedy act called "Stone and Stone" during their sophomore year at college, where they graduated in 2005. In 2008, they were featured in a national Verizon FiOS commercial, and also appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, where they made it to the semi-final round in Las Vegas. They have performed at comedy clubs and theaters throughout New York City, including Gotham Comedy Club, Carolines, Comix, Stand-Up NY, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and The PIT, and they also brought their show overseas to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
They recently hosted Comedy Central’s live New York variety show, “Crash Mansion,” and were chosen as finalists for “New York’s Funniest Stand-up” competition produced by the New York Comedy Festival. The Stones are also proud members of the New York Friars Club, and have performed there at several roasts.

Christine Nagy is currently the co-host of 106.7 Lite-FM's morning show, Bronson and Christine. Christine has been a familiar voice to morning radio in NY for the past 12 years, having been part of mornings shows on Z100 and Q104.3. She has also worked nationally in radio for the Martha Stewart Channel on Sirus/XM Satellite Radio. In addition to her love for radio, Christine is passionate about theatre and film. October 27 - Kenny Kramer

Kenny Kramer, the "Real" Kramer, is the model for Cosmo Kramer, the unpredictable and affable bachelor who has trouble staying on his feet.
Prior to serving as Cosmo's model, Kenny had a long career as a stand-up comedian and was the manager of a British reggae band.
For six years Larry David lived across the hall from Kenny. One day Jerry Seinfeld asked Larry for help creating a TV show. Jerry became famous, Larry became George and Kramer became Kramer. For the past ten years, Kenny has been the host of "Kramer's Reality Tour" and "Kramer on Seinfeld." Here Kenny relies on his stand-up experience to entertain people from all over the world with the behind-the-scenes Seinfeld story.
In his spare time he has served as a correspondent for Hard Copy, written, produced and hosted "Kramer's New York" segments for Fox5's Good-Day N.Y., and appeared in the original New York company of Tony and Tina's Wedding playing himself. He made several appearances as part of the bonus footage on the Seinfeld DVD series - and he's starring in his own DVD of his celebrated "Kramer's Reality Tour" with special appearances by Larry David and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Mayor Giuliani said, "Kramer's Reality Tour" is a valuable entertainment and cultural venture."
In 2001 Kenny was the Libertarian Party's candidate for mayor of New York City. The first time Kenny ran for mayor he admits it was a publicity stunt but this time he said he was in it to win it. His campaign slogan reflected that... KRAMER FOR MAYOR...THIS TIME I'M NOT KIDDING!!! Unfortunately Kenny lost. He did however receive several thousand votes but he was relieved in that he was once again able to escape having to hold an actual job.

Sid is a Professor of Media Studies at Sacred Heart University, in Fairfield, CT. He regularly teaches courses focusing on Hitchcock, both at Sacred Heart and also recently at NYU. He has published many articles and reviews on Hitchcock. November 10 - Kate Clinton(Humorist - Author)
Kate Clinton is a faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist and family entertainer who still believes that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime and scoundrel time. This year YES on K8 will tour the US and Canada .
Last presidential year, Kate's show Hilarity Clinton '08 toured nationwide. It followed her 2007 show, Climate Change, a CD of which was released in March, 2008. November 17 - Bob Balaban
(Actor, Director)
Bob Balaban recently directed Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons in Georgia O’Keeffe (Lifetime). He received three 2008 Emmy Award nominations, two for directing and producing the HBO film Bernard and Doris, starring Susan Sarandon and Ralph Fiennes, the third for his performance in Recount. Other directing credits include The Last Good Time (starring Armin Mueller Stahl and Maureen Stapleton), and Parents (with Randy Quaid and Sandy Dennis. He produced and co-starred in the award-winning film Gosford Park. Comedian Dave Konig won three EMMY Awards for his hilarious "man under the street" interviews on the New York TV show Subway Q & A. He hosted his own, daily comedy talk show on SIRIUS radio, and hosted the infamous HBO late night comedy series Hardcore TV. December 1 - Esther Ku

Esther Ku is a comedian, actor, and musician. In 2008, Ku was selected as the only female comedian from New York City to advance to the Las Vegas Semi-Finals in NBC’s Last Comic Standing. In Vegas, she advanced to the house portion of the reality show to become a Last Comic Standing Season 6 Finalist. Six months later, she was selected by Howard Stern as a finalist in the Hottest Funniest Chick Contest on Sirius Satellite Radio. She has been a featured regular in the Boston International Comedy Festival and the New York Underground Comedy Festival. She has performed in the hit comedy Shear Madness, the longest-running non-musical play in American theatre history. On her spare time, she manages to dedicate her energy to a serious and troublesome cause — to end tickling forever. “Tickling is forcing someone to laugh when you’re not being funny. December 15 - Stone & Stone

The Stone twins, Adam and Todd, created their two man comedy act called "Stone and Stone" during their sophomore year at college, where they graduated in 2005. In 2008, they were featured in a national Verizon FiOS commercial, and also appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, where they made it to the semi-final round in Las Vegas. They have performed at comedy clubs and theaters throughout New York City, including Gotham Comedy Club, Carolines, Comix, Stand-Up NY, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and The PIT, and they also brought their show overseas to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
They recently hosted Comedy Central’s live New York variety show, “Crash Mansion,” and were chosen as finalists for “New York’s Funniest Stand-up” competition produced by the New York Comedy Festival. The Stones are also proud members of the New York Friars Club, and have performed there at several roasts.

December 22 - Lee Harris

A native of Brooklyn, Lee Harris grew up on Long Island and began his on-air career at the age of 13, voicing "School-scope" reports on WGBB in Freeport. He worked for several other Long Island stations while in high school before heading off to the University of Wisconsin.
Lee worked as a newscaster and in management at major news/talk operations including KTAR in Phoenix, KMOX in St. Louis and WGN/Tribune Radio Networks in Chicago.
In 1988, Lee became co-owner and general manager of a small station in the Madison, Wisconsin market and actually lived in an apartment above the studios.
In 1993, Lee sold his share in the station and returned to his home territory where he was lucky enough to land a job at 1010 WINS.
In 1995, Lee was selected to take over the "top-of-the hour" morning anchor position, occupied for the previous 30 years by the legendary Paul Smith. "Paul had a great off-hand style, he could be extremely humorous, but also deadly serious when the occasion called for it. I like to think of myself as his spiritual descendant, but he's a tough act to follow."
Lee was named best newscaster at the 2000 New York Achievement in Radio Awards.
